Encrypted Calling

Encrypted Voice

Strong security is the name of the game. With Encrypt Fortress Call, you can count on secure communication provided through:

  • Cryptographic key-agreement protocol for privacy in audio use.
  • Easy-to-use ZRTP that requires no training for users.
  • Simple 4-digit key to encrypt calls.
  • Symmetric cryptographic algorithms (AES Counter Mode with 128 bit key length, AES Counter Mode with 26 bit key length, TwoFish Counter Mode with 128 bit key length, and TwoFish Counter Mode with 256 bit key length).

Anonymous Numbers Registered in Trust

For your protection, Encrypt Fortress Call registers your incoming phone numbers in trust. Your company can depend upon its privacy being protected by the Republic of Panama's offshore privacy protection and secrecy laws.

To avoid unwanted calls, your outgoing caller ID can keep your number anonymous with the option of setting it to one of your private incoming numbers or Encrypt Fortress Call general voicemail. Every device on the Encrypt Fortress Call system also functions with a unique and private internal encrypted calling 5-digit number.

Protecting Against “Man-in-the-Middle Attacks”

Encrypt Fortress Call from Encrypt Fortress® always deploys preventive measures to protect our clients against MitM (Man in the Middle attacks). We are dedicated to keeping your encrypted conversation between you and your intended party. Encrypt Fortress Call ensures that no one interferes with the ZRTP encryption negotiation through simple but powerful mechanics (Short Authentication String and Retained Shared Secrets).

With every call, both caller and recipient will see the 4-character SAS displayed on the screen. Each caller can verify the SAS data and match verbally over the secure connection. For example, the caller can read the initial two SAS characters and the receiver reads the last two characters.

A matching SAS confirms that no one interfered with the key negotiation during ZRTP encryption. It is best to do this at the beginning of your conversation. You may then change the SAS status to “verified”. Verification is necessary for Encrypt Fortress Umbra to subsequently secure information in further encrypted connections. A warning message will appear if the SAS key does not match or if Encrypt Fortress Umbra identifies possible MitM.
